Google PageRank Update - September 2008!!!!

Breaking news guys!!! There seems to be another Google PageRank update recently. I just discovered it today when I checked pagerank of my blogs. I searched online on different webmaster forums and it seems like other bloggers and webmasters are also experiencing a change in their PageRanks.

If you may remember, SEO and Blogging Tips's PageRank dropped from 4 to 1 in the last update. However, now it has increased to 3!! It still has not recovered fully but I am satisfied for the time being. May be in the next update, it will go up.

Also, another blog of mine had a PageRank 3 for a long time but now its PR is 4!!! Finally all the hard work that I put into that blog is paying off.

What about your blogs and websites? Did their PageRank change at all? Are you happy with the change? Please share with us.

Yes, and my blog went from a page rank 4 to a page rank 1. I'm not sure why everyone else's is going in the opposite direction!

@Sherry - that really sucks but I am sure you will get it back in the next update. The same thing happened to this blog in the last update but now i got it back to PR3.

My PR also moves down. Why is it so? Is there anything I have to do or anything I should be aware of when working on my blog? Please give some details.thanks and more power!

@Ronald - PR is very unpredictable. This blog's PR went down to 0 from 4 in the last update and I was really mad. Just don't give up. If you haven't done anything "wrong" then you will probably get your PR back in the next update.

Here is what you can do:
1. submit blog to directories
2. submit posts to social bookmarking sites
3. build backlinks

Man to think I just launched my website, http://www.puredezigner.com back in the middle of July 2008. I remember reading about the PR updates that were taking place at the end of the July, that's when I was thinking to myself, man 3-6 months before the next update. But when I check my Alexa stat this evening I noticed something else. I just now finally had an update to my PR, From PR0 to PR3! It's a simple website based on CSS and XHTML validated web projects I have in my portfolio, non the less, I am very happy about this update to my first ever SEO efforts in web. I'd love to see examples and reports on how your current SEO efforts are going and possible results from from the latest Google PR update, please share your updates with us?

Thanks,
Curtis

Most of the sites I maintain stayed the same. One changed from 2 to 3, another dropped from 2 to 1, and a very new one (less than 1 month) stayed at 0.

I agree that PR is unpredictable. In the case of the one that went down, I have been consistently adding backlinks and freshening content on it like the others. Let's hope that the next PR update is 2 months out again!

Went up to 4 from 3; but all my other supporting pages (pargerank 3, 2, and 1) went to zero. I'm not complaining, traffic is up.

hey my pagerank for my site has gone from 3 to 4 if www is included ,but if its not included its moved from 3 to 0.What is this ...can anyone explain?

Dan said...

@RAM - well sometimes website URLs with "www" in front have a different PR than URLs without "www". Most of the time, the PR is the same, though.

My Father Blogger dot Com blog which is just 2 months old jump from PR0 to PR3 and I am quite happy with it. I said "quite" because it is not my real target.

My main target is to attract visitors and convert them to regular readers by making useful contents and socialize with fellow bloggers. I also join forums and using attractive signature, leaving meaningful comments on other blogs and connecting with my readers.

PR for me is just a popularity contest and being popular does not mean you are being liked by many. This only mean that they know you. It is also very unpredictable since one can easily delete a blog or blog post in which the link is connected to you. Links should also be of good quality otherwise, it is useless.

So why bother build links when it can some naturally if you make quality contents, and find the right readers?

Just my 2 cents, though.

I have several fledgling blogs that got a boost from 0 to 2. So I'm very pleased! The important ones stayed the same, nothing increased. But that's better than a negative hit. So it's all good.

My sites and blogs are generally up - one for N/A to 5 - but I expect it to fall imminently. Some client's sites have fallen - which is a pain as they tend to kick up when that happens - c'est la vie

I am new the blogging stuff I do not know how to even check to see where it is. I would like to know more about it if I could. Thank you for the information.

Like others, my blog went from a PR0 to a PR3. The blog is only about a month old, though I have been posting to it regularly. I am quite pleased.

My new blog missed it as it wasn't indexed in Google yet. A PR update in less than 2 months? Google seems to be tying its shoe laces. The last update was in the last few days of July if I remember right..

It looks like Google decided to roll back the September PR updates. We're back to the July numbers.

I noticed it a couple of days ago, but I haven't found anybody writing about it.

I did notice the small September PR update, although no change back to July as Larry mentions.

Thanks for the time taken to compose such a comprehensive comment. For what its worth, my blog pagerank actually now supersedes that of my original domain.4 for the blog – 3 for the main domain.
